About Playa Flamingo | The Heart of Guanacaste’s Gold Coast
Rare white sand. Blue Flag waters. Natural beauty.
Playa Flamingo is one of Guanacaste’s most extraordinary coastal communities—known for its rare white-sand beach, calm turquoise waters, Blue Flag beach status, and exceptional natural beauty.
For generations, people have been drawn to Flamingo for its serenity, connection to the sea, and distinctive coastal character. Today, it offers an inviting village atmosphere, a world-class marina, a growing variety of restaurants, cafés, shops, and services, and a lifestyle that blends relaxation, accessibility, and natural beauty.
The surrounding landscape is also home to some of
Guanacaste’s most iconic wildlife, including howler monkeys, iguanas, sea turtles, and abundant ocean and tropical bird life.
Playa Flamingo continues to evolve as one of the region’s most admired and welcoming seaside communities.
Did You Know?
Despite its name, Playa
Flamingo is not a pink-
sand beach.
While the exact origin of
the name is unknown,
local tradition suggests it may have been inspired by an English-speaking visitor’s sightings of roseate
spoonbills—pink-hued
birds found in our mangrove that can resemble flamingos from
a distance.

Our coastline is the heart of our community, and keeping it healthy requires a team effort. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors, get some fresh air, and make a tangible difference.
